Re: X390 Yoga auto-rotate not working

2019-11-26, 5:33 AM

Louisalou, It's been a month since you replied. I have the same problem. I've spent hours trying to troubleshoot this problem. I have had the laptop two days. It rotated a couple of times and then the feature disappered. I was advised to reload the O/S. It came back and now it's grayed out. Probably will eventually disappear. This is a common problem for the community. Lenovo needs to get this resolved. This is not a BIOS problem or driver problem. It worked, then stopped. Get this fixed.

Hello, sorry for my missing.

I still want to know how about the driver worked?

f machine in laptop mode, even you change the button to tablet, the auto rotation still disabled, need the machine in tablet physically

If the driver not seen in device manager, you can install driver again.

Re: X390 Yoga auto-rotate not working

I believe two users already gave you the driver information. I'll do it again. Here is the sequence of steps I made.

      1. Laptop arrived directly from Kunshan on 11/22. Unboxed the laptop. Started it up. Rotation worked.

      2. Within a few hours rotation stopped working.(Implies there is a bug either in the o/s or the driver.)

      3. Called Lenovo helpdesk. This is what the Lenovo engineer did:

  • He saw the Rotation Lock switch was missing under "Display Orientation" in "Display Settings."
  • He tried working with the Tablet Mode. That did not work. We changed the Orientation to Portrait. That did not work. Each time we changed the laptop to Tent and Tablet, I shook the laptop and could not get rotation to work. He then checked the drivers.
  • He saw that the "Intel Integrated Sensor Solution" was working. The "Lenovo Intelligent Sensing" device General Tab said, "No drivers are installed for this device." However, the Driver Tab showed a driver was installed. It showed version, 1.1.0.60. How could the device say no driver installed, but it showed a version (see images below.)
  • He replaced the two drivers: The "Intel Integrated Sensor Solution" and the "Lenovo Intelligent Sensing". The Rotation Lock switch was still missing.
  • He recommended reinstalling the O/S.

I reinstalled the O/S. Here is  what happened:

    1. The Rotation Lock switch reappeared and rotation worked.

    2. Within a couple of hours, rotation stopped working. This time the Rotation Lock switch was grayed out.

    3. The device drivers had the same status as above.

You need to escalate this to the Lenovo engineers. They need to test this problem. Don't ask the customers to do your testing. This is clearly a bug. You are guessing when you ask customers to reinstall drivers. It doesn't work. It's a waste of our time to go any further with this. Get the Lenovo engineers involved.  There is a bug somewhere. Get a software patch out to fix this bug. This problem occured on a laptop delivered directly from the factory.

Please report back on this thread when the patch is released so the users on this thread know to update our system.

Here are pictures of the drivers:

Re: X390 Yoga auto-rotate not working

Thanks you so much for your information and sorry for confuse you . Follow your steps, we can’t reproduce the symptom till now and will continue to repro .

The same time, we discussed it with DEV. engineer, they confirmed that both of HID sensor driver and Intel Integrated Sensor driver control the rotation setting button, and the driver will collect sensor data for OS to execute rotation. we tried to disable the second HID sensor driver manual, then go to “Display Setting to check the Rotation Lock , the button is missing (see the screenshot below). not sure if its same symptom with your . if yes, may you can try to check the HID driver working status.

If both the driver installed normally. DEV engineer suspect it’s sensor HW working abnormal.  so, if possible, DEV engineer suggest that use an Intel tool to capture sensor date in the failure machine(see below attached) for them do further debug. How about your opinion? thanks again!

BTW, just a double confirm that the symptom is solid once it happen in your Laptop, even with the tablet position do a little change (like change from 360  to 340 degrees).

Re: X390 Yoga auto-rotate not working

Hi folks.

Found this thread because auto rotation did not work on my x390 yoga. Loaded and started the Sensor Viewer. As soon as the sensors were visible, auto rotation started to work again. Thus I think it's something about the data connection from the sensors to Windows' software component for auto rotation.

Sincerely,

Mayk,

Lousialou, Thank you for your thorough response.

The auto-rotation started working on Tuesday, 11/26. I have been using my laptop normally since waiting to see if it would stop rotating. I have had do failures during that time. The reason it starting working is a mystery to me.

If there is a log file or screen shot you want me to send you, please let me know. Since there are others in the community who are experiencing the same problem, I think Lenovo should still investigate why auto-rotation fails. For me, it worked out of the box, then failed shortly after that, and then starting working again.

@Customer2468 you could check what is the current version of the drivers for Lenovo Intelligent Sensing and for Intel Integrated Sensor Solution. What could have happened was that one or both of the drivers on your device got automatically updated and that solved the problem. If that is the case, it could be useful to know.

The Lenovo Intelligent Sensing driver was upgraded to 1.1.0.61. However, the warning for the device said that the upgrade would not take affect until I restarted my laptop. That would imply I was still using 1.1.0.60. After I restarted my laptop, the General tab was still showing that no driver was installed for this device. That doesn't give me a good feeling.

The Intel Integrated Sensor Solution driver was unchanged.
