a thinkpad X41 type 2525 with only a HDD.
it has boot options for USB floppy and CD.
when i remove the hdd and install XPhome via another machine, all seems well.
refitting the HDD usually gives the message NO OS Present.
if i then try and boot from it as a USB HDD it will sometimes show and fail to boot.
the original os belonged to the former owner and was XPPro. this was removed/wiped.
i would like to know how to get the thinkpad to boot.
preferably from an image on a USB stick straight onto the HDD.
i would consider Linux or DOS, just to prove the sequence of events prior to XP.
any help appreciated.
