On the webpage to track the repair, you can see how long the machine was worked on, AND it was not in the possession of the tech long enough to run the machine with a battery to see the flickering begin....

Thanks!

Gee guys, all I want is to see my computer work correctly...this is a blog and is not personal. I am sorry that you, Nonny, were offended by a comment. Can we go back to drivers, BIOS and hardware on the blog. thanks... I am happy to keep you updated on my progress...

Hi Femrev,

I don't think I offended anyone :smileysurprised: at least I didn't intend to. I may have missunderstood, that Nonny quoted TPX60sMan with this post:

"And of course it didn't occur to them to replace the battery..."

which most likely showed his disappointment with the overall situation.

Femrev,

all we do since now 8 month is to provide details about the bug and how to reproduce, but we are all still waiting for some "official" comment or even fix. Just like you now want to do as well. I also made some suggestion about how the forum can be improved so it doesn't cause frustration for users and moderators. No response to that at all so far.

But you are right - I will move the topic about the forum operation and suggestions for improvement to the appropriate board on this forum.

@ Nonny

Yes dsp is correct, my comment is out of frustration. This is such a well documented problem now with many users experiencing it that I find it difficult to belive the Lenovo tech weren't able to find or replicate it. And as backed up by femrev my suspiciouns were correct.

I appreciate the mods here are volunteers but I am with dsp here. Why haven't the mods escalated this to Lenovo and if they have then why haven't the mods come on here and explained what they have done and what Lenovo's response was? It's the seemingly black hole of no information or any acknowledgement that we are getting from Lenovo that is frustrating and frankly inexcusable. Thinkpads are supposed to be the higher end of the notebook market aimed at the business user and as such should have the service to compliment that. If this was a $300 Dell then I wouldn't be so annoyed but it isn't.

Mark Lenovo stated in message 69 that he will be receiving a laptop for inspection. We then heard nothing further. I then posted a direct request to Mark Lenovo in message 92 asking what happened and for some feed back. Still nothing. What's going on?

This is not meant to be an arguement but merely to illustrate the frustration we are experiencing due to Lenovo's seeming lack of interest in this problem.

The members in this thread have managed to identify the offending culprit causing the issue but now we need Lenovo to step up and do a proper analysis and put out a fix.

As i expected, the new battery I purchased did not change anything...still flickering, but now the battery time means it can flicker longer....

I have to contact Lenovo again, but this time I must find a supervisor before I will send this computer off to technical support for the THIRD time. I am very tired of getting a quick fix, that does not address the problem....

:smileyvery-happy:

Yeah, this will probably fix really ... because most likely your system drivers on the initial image are so old, the bug didn't appear yet. But this would mean, you should NEVER use ThinkVantage System Update anymore. Because this will introduce the bug with the newer drivers again. (We think we linked it to the graphics driver already, as I rolled back mine to a very old level, which made the problem dissapear.

But this is a workaround, not a fix.

If you do roll back the whole system, I'm pretty confident, this bug will be gone. Oh dear, sounds like a lot of wasted time to me. Would be cool, if official service stuff would also read this forum.

Then they knew more about this bug already :smileymad:

See if you can speak to a superivor and agree that you can send him a link to this thread. Also rather than making him read all 14 pages, highlight and link directly to the key posts where members have found work arounds and the posts where members have identified the driver causing the problem.

Explain what you have tried and the number of times the machine was sent in but returned unfixed. What we need to do is get someone from Lenovo to spend a little time looking into this rather than passing off some scripted irrelevant response.

Good luck.
