Re: X60 - Screen flickers and screen shutoff - problem with power management or hardware failure?

Has anyone tried Intel instead? IMO its their driver that's the issue not the thinkpad.

I dont remember the driver #s now...or even how to find them!!! Sorry...

Just know the video chip driver was dated 2/2008 and the power manager was 2007. I have not tried Intel, as I was under the impression that their driver would be specific to our system and unless Lenovo requested an update...what power would we have?

I believe you can tell Intel about your problem - of course they'll want to know your system/chipset....

But if they don't know their video driver breaks our x60's then they'll never fix it.

Sure getting a request from Lenovo would help but hearing it from end users can't hurt.

anyone know how to do contact them? I am moving overseas and overloaded with things to do. But, I have kept up on this link even after getting my system to work. Happy to contact them, no time to research how...

I think there should be a link on Intel's website in order to contact them:

http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/user-community-for-intel-graphics-technology/

Maybe we should link this thread with one thred on Intel's forums

When I downloaded the driver from Intel it did not work. The error message told me to check the manufacturer.

Normally the generic drivers would work, this is the first time I had this with Intel drivers.

I think it is something that Lenovo engineers did and Intel might not be of much help here.

Plus, it happens only with the X60 as far as we know.

WhyComputers,

you are right. Now, you talked about it, I have already tried to install drivers from Intel's website and it did not work. The installation cannot complete.

thanks

Post update:

I rolled back to this version: 6.14.10.4860, and this driver did not improve the situation:

1) the screen still shutoff when using the battery

2) The screen is not well calibrated. The position of the display moves toward the left...

I am fed up now with this problem...
