Re: X60 - Screen flickers and screen shutoff - problem with power management or hardware failure?

Is there still no solution for this? I am experiencing the exakt same thing. Something does not feel right when you invest $2300 in a computer system and then the manufacturer can't bother to answer a question that was raised over a year ago. At least confess that there is no solution to it.. or did anyone manage do get rid of the irregular flicker while on battery?

Hi everyone, I re-imaged the hard-drive and all was well. Then updated only the power manager....screen flickers. Any one know how to roll back the power manager to the old version without re-imaging again???

Hi Femrev,

I did try to find a way to roll back to a previous version of Power Management but I could not find the solution... There is obviously a conflict between graphics drivers and power management.

I am also interested to find a solution to roll back to a previous version of power management.

think I found an answer....

go to control panel, click on ADJUST SCREEN RESOLUTION

CLICK ON ADVANCE SETTINGS....

ON A BAR NEAR THE TOP....CLICK ON INTEL MEDIA GRAPHICS ACCECORATOR DRIVER.....

CLICK ON PROPERITIES...

CLICK ON DISPLAY SETTINGS....

CLICK ON POWER SETTINGS......THEN MOVE THE BAR TO OVER ONE CLICK TOWARDS MAXIMUM QUAILITY AND THEN CLICK APPLY......FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!!!

Hi Femrev,

could you please just summary the version of you graphic driver as well as the version of the power management?

I hope that your solution could finally fix the problem.

Hi Phildak

I don't think it will matter on the graphics driver....but I re-imaged my hard drive so I am using Version 4.0.0.0  11/21/2006

and the current power manager. Once I gave more battery power to the graphics through the process I wrote before....all good. I had re-imaged my hard-drive then accidentally upgraded the power manager my problem returned, so I know it is in the relationship between the two drivers. more power.....more good!!! NOW all Good!!

@femrev .... now:

you write: I don't think it will matter on the graphics driver....but I re-imaged my hard drive so I am using Version 4.0.0.0  11/21/2006

Unless you try it (be brave ... :-D ) its not a proven valid statement. But if it fixes the problem, which I doubt when I read Hurre84, it would at least be a workaround , but not a fix (as everyone runs into the problem).

By the way, could you please be more specific - which control panel do you refere to? I wasn't able to find the settings anywhere that you mentioned...
