X60s Can it support 64 bit OS'

1702-3JU L2400(1.66GHz) Intel 950

Tried to load Ubuntu 64bit and got an error saying it was an i686 architecture...also saw something on the Lenovo site stating X60s has no support for 64bit Vista . I thought that this was a 64bit processor...any help greatly appreciated...thx

Re: X60s Can it support 64 bit OS'

Core Duo CPUs like those found in most X60s are not 64bit capable. Core 2 Duo CPUs are 64 bit capable. Some of the very last models of X60s's had Core 2 Duo CPUs.
