X61 Spacebar

2013-02-05, 8:28 AM

Hi, all a sudden last week I noticed that my lenovo x61 spacebar was loose, I quickly tried to push it back into place but it remained loose, I then noticed that some of the small black clips had broken off or were damaged/bent. As a result, I can no longer clip my spacebar in place and am having to press the rubber button everytime which is painful and time consuming.

Would anyone know if it is still possible to clip back into place my spacebar, and if not, where I could buy a cheap one online?

Hi mikeyhg, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

If parts are broken, you probably need to replace the keyboard. You'll find them on eBay or can get them from IBM spare parts (the part numbers are in the Hardware Maintenance Manual).

Hope this helps!

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

You can sometimes find individual keys on eBay, e.g. http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-LENOVO-ThinkPad-Keyboard-Key-X60-X61-42T3499-42T3531-Single-Key-Only-/221159188063 but unless you're lucky, the seller won't have the key you need.
