X61s running external monitor on native (1920x1200) resolution

2008-09-19, 1:33 AM

Hi,

I'm running a X61s with an NEC 2690WUXi monitor. Trouble is that I can't get the Thinkpad to output a 1920x1200 signal (even though I know it is capable). I select the 1920x1200 resolution, but it always outputs 1920x1080 (with panning up an down).

Have installed the inf file for the monitor and did the usual settings check. Also downloaded the latest drivers from the Lenovo website (although these are older than the version on the Intel site).

Anyone care to share ideas ?

Thanks in advance, CraigS

Just a follow up on this. I managed to get this working correctly. It turned out to be a driver problem. Note the current driver on the Lenovo site (March/April 08) is not the latest released version, compared to the Intel site. Updating to the latest driver on the Intel site fixed the problem and I now can run at the native resolution....

Hello,

I have Dell 24" monitor connected with 1920x1200, so hardware/driver is capable of doing so.

I would try the following:

1. Check in the video driver settings if the monitor is detected correctly and if the video mode is listed as supported.

2. Check the same monitor with different cable.

3. Try reinstalling the Video driver. Uninstall, Reboot, Install, Reboot.

4. Inspect the socket pins both on the PC and on the monitor, possibly one of them is broken?

Hope the problem is in points 1-3.

Wojciech

P.S. Once done, calibrate (manually) your monitor. The VGA by default will deliver image much worse than DVI would.

What version of the driver did you end up installing?  I tried to go and get one of the versions that Intel currently has on the site, but get an error message when I try to install.  (It tells me this driver is not validated with my hardware, and that I should go to IBM.)

Thanks

I am having the exact same problem. It's telling me to go back to Lenovo...but Lenovo won't tell me a thing because the product is out of warantee.

Hi noah798, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

What operating system are you running?

Did you try the latest Lenovo video drivers?

Hello and thanks.

My hard drive crashed and had to get a new one. Everything is working fine except this.

OS = Windows 7 / 32bit

Thanks! It downloaded and installed smoothly. Is there now something I must do to activate display on my external monitor (24" Hannspree HF237)? The light comes on as active but the display is off when I hit FnF7.
