I don't know if I'm having the same issue, but each time my X1Y3 comes out of sleep / presentation mode, the trackPAD stops working for a few seconds and the mouse cursor drifts upwards in a straight line. I can still use the trackPOINT to move the mouse, but clicking is hard because it seems like there is other input to the mouse. The upward drift problem has also occurred several times during normal use of the trackPAD.
This is precisely how the issue plays out on my device as well (20LD). Cursor drifts in a straight line upward for a few seconds while being unresponsive. Have attempted to update Synaptics, WinTab, and Hotkey drivers from the support page with no effect.
@can we please have this issue addressed @someotherguy ? Thanks!

I have the same issue with my X1C6, except it happens after sleep rather than after presentation mode (which the x1 dont have). Super frustrating! My old t410 which has been through some rough times acts nothing like this.

Hey guys,
Just wondering if there is any fix to this problem. It still happens on mine from time to time.
Thanks

Try this new TrackPoint firmware update and tell us how that goes.

This has been happening to my trackpoint as well with my brand new X1 Yoga 3rd Gen that shipped last month. Every time I open the lid, the trackpoint causes the cursor to drift upwards for about six seconds. During this time, the trackpad is unusable.
Any news on a fix?

I can confirm the issue still remains even with the new firmware. Hope it will get fixed soon. The trackpoint is sometimes unusable due to the drift issue.

I have the same problem with my Yoga X1 Gen3. After opening the laptop or after converting from tablet mode to laptop mode (read: everytime the trackpoint is activated) the mouse cursor drifts straight upwards for about 5 sec and the trackpad is unresponsive. It seems that the default calibration data for the trackpoint is off and the autocalibration has to kick in each time before it is usable.
After my ghost touching problem this is the second second issue that really annoys me.
