Yoga X1 1st Windows 10 PWMTR64V.dll error

2018-09-21, 4:05 AM

On start up I am getting the following message:

Run dll. There was a problem starting C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utlities\PWMTR64V.dll The specified module could not be found

I have not upgraded to Windows as the laptop already came shipped with Windows 10 on it. I found this doc:

https://support.lenovo.com/do/en/solutions/ht500208

Tried all the steps and still get this error on every startup. I even installed the Power Management driver from here:

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/do/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-yoga-type-20fq-20fr/downloads

Restarted and get the error. Then I removed the driver and get the error.

Yes, I tried to remove the task scheduler also. I have this scheduler only too:

Lenovo Power Management Driver PnP Task

I keep trying to disable or remove that one but it keeps coming back up on start up.

Solved! See the solution

I have this exact problem on my ThinkPad E545.  This problem started with the most recent series of Windows 10 Cumulative Updates.

As user, MyThinkBrain, had done, I performed every step listed on https://support.lenovo.com/do/en/solutions/ht500208 but the problem still persists at StartUp.  I even took the extra step of deleting all Power Manager folders/files from c:\program files (x86)\lenovo.

This is a really annoy problem that seems to really slow down an already slow bootup/startup.

Can someone help????

Finally fixed this problem.

Found the answer on this forum for another topic: Uninstall Non-Existant Power Manager PWMTR64V.dll  I decided to explore this topic because the solution suggested the current thread was to remove/de-install the Lenovo Power Manager which I had already done.  However, the problem persisted.

The final solution was to delete the LENOVO Hardware Settings task in the TASK SCHEDULER as recommended by ArtSharpiro  in the above topic.  After doing so, the PWMTR64V.dll startup error went away.  Thank you ArtSharpiro!!!!!!!!

My thread can be closed.

This helped me too

Thank you!! This was a great find! Deleting this Task Scheduler resolved my issue. I am finally able to turn on my computer without the error showing up. Thank you for finding this solution.

This error happened on an X1 Yoga after resetting Windows and logged in for the first time (actually each time). Very annoying that Lenovo left this task in pointing to a DLL that does not exist.

Lenovo wanted about $100 CAN in order to resolve this problem.

Thank you so much for sharing this!

I had this error occur recently on my Thinkpad T430 running on an upgrade to Windows 10.  This is the only solution that worked.  Thank you!
