Re: Yoga X1 touch screen not working after latest firmware update

I also opened a service ticket, but they refused to accept sending the unit in - since my X1 is out of warranty.

Where did you guys send the laptop for repair? And did you still have active warranty, or did you have to pay for that monitor replacement? Even if it was a faulty upgrade by Lenovo that cause the trouble with touchscreen? Seems not fair to me...

What phone number to call? And how did you present reasoning, that made them replace monitor hardware?

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction to get my laptop working again...

Hi, sorry to hear this and not sure what to tell you, as my laptop is still under warranty. Not sure if they would have done it otherwise. I opened a service request at https://www.managedtechnicalsupportaccess.com/mtsarva/lenovo.html and all went fine. Note that I live in Switzerland; shortly after I received instructions how to ship the item via FedEx to their Poland service center, and then it was returned no problem. If relevant, machine is US made/purchased but the warranty works just fine in Switzerland.

Sucks for me then, never will do a recommended automatic critical update on the Lenovo "Support" website again. Who knows what will stop to work next. At the end I just have a fancy blue shimmering night stand light...

By the way, I am Swiss living in the US. Did not know if you speak Swiss German. But English is community language anyways, so all can profit.

Thanks for all the help and clarification though.

This problem has not been solved!

Lenovo - I spent $2000 on a machine.  it has worked great until I installed your recommended drivers.

I can't uninstall the drivers.  My machine thinks it is an X1 Carbon rather than an X1 Yoga.  It doesn't recognize that a touchscreen is installed.

All because you messed up the drivers and BIOS update.  Please fix this!!!!!

Still Not Solved!
Taking a machine to get the screen replaced - simply as the result of downloading the current drivers - IS NOT A SOLUTION!

It seems Lenovo is burying their heads on this one.  It is very frustrating!

I don't even see the option to revert to prior BIOS versions.

Re: Yoga X1 touch screen not working after latest firmware update

Last night I ran the Lenovo System Update utility on my X1 Yoga 1st Gen and after installing the Touch Firmware Update - 7 Version 4.20/5.04/100.3, my pen and touch functions are no longer working.

I've ended up on this forum after attempting several repairs without success and neither the Pen nor the Wacom touch screen are being detected by the operating system at all.

I run an IT sales\services company and we are partnered with Lenovo.

I am contacting partner support now and will update if I find any solution from them.

As of now it appears that this update, which was published by Lenovo via their automated update tool, has caused irreverisble damage to the controller and can only be remedied by replacing the screen.

If this is true, it is absolutely unacceptable and Lenovo needs to resolve this issue, regardless of the machine's warranty status.

Hopefully this will have a happy ending!
