Re: keyboard backlight glitch on x1 yoga 3rd gen

A lot of speculation here, but didn't a Lenovo rep tell us that they found the issue and that it'll be a BIOS update? I would just wait and hope they did their testing this time.

Well, we have little choice but wait. But I think that's part of what these/all forums are for is speculation and such.

Re: keyboard backlight glitch on x1 yoga 3rd gen

I randomly ran Vantage tonight and saw three updates, Wifi driver, power management something, and BIOS! I got really excited and installed all three. The BIOS update utility hung on me while the other two items were installing, so I had to kill it and run the update again after a reboot. At that point it ran fine, claimed it was version 31.13 os the utility so I thought maybe it's BIOS 1.13. After the update Vantage still says BIOS 1.11, and after sleeping the laptop, I still have the keyboard flicker.

Furthermore, my OSD of the keyboard light states is still screwed up. 50% of the time the OSD doesn't even show up when I swap the states (off, auto, low, high). And auto definitely doesn't work right still.

What is going on Lenovo? I'm getting really sick of this.

Hello Horgh, according to this post from Lenovo: https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/solutions/ht506091, " After updating BIOS, the BIOS version that is reported by Lenovo Vantage may not be updated to reflect the latest BIOS version that was successfully installed." As well, looking at X1Y3 support page (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-yoga-3rd-gen-type-20ld-20le-20lf-20lg/20ld/downloads), I think the latest BIOS Lenovo has released for X1Y3 is 1.12.

Sometimes after a resume the keyboard is not working at all.

Only after FN +Space the keyoard comes "back to life", does anyone experiences the same problem?

I thought the latest BIOS was 1.12 as well (based on the support/drivers page), which is why I was surprised to see a new update in Vantage. Maybe my laptop somehow thought it wasn't on 1.12 yet, I don't know. Either way, I await the next real update as I'm starting to have unreasonable bouts of rage whenever my keyboard flickers, especially at night.

Yes. The keyboard and the crazy screen colors after the update makes it very hard in the evenings.
If anyone listens from Lenovo, please fix those issues already! It's been very long time and still no dates when all issues will get resolved.

What crazy screen colors? Here all is ok? If you talk about extreme vivid colors then its normal. You drive a full Adobe RGB capable Screen in sRGB Mode, Results are extreme vivid color. (Too much saturation)

What i mean is you cannot use the standard color profile and only the native one which has very over saturated colors.

Have you changed settings? Should come set up from lenovo based on your machine's profile. Settings are in control panel as well as intel specific if you right click on desktop choosing 'intel graphics' I believe. sRGB should map to an sRGB profile by default. If you're seeing this in browsers it's possibly browser settings, and on specific websites, site settings. Very great majority of 'content' online is profiled in sRGB and is still the standard outside of color-managed spaces. If you're issues lie in color managed spaces (eg. adobe) then you're looking at at least 3 layers of an onion, but settings are easy enought to find/change. Has lenovo updated the HDR screens w/Dolby yet? Not sure how that will roll out if not, but still, any screen regardless of physical gamut space should have default sRGB profile that will present any typical content normally.
