Re: keyboard backlight glitch on x1 yoga 3rd gen

The HDR panel may or may not be sRGB natively. You used to be able to explicitly set sRGB which would tone down the saturation, but since the April 2018 update this is broken. Lenovo says it's a Microsoft bug they've reported but that they've heard no answer yet.

Only after FN +Space the keyoard comes "back to life", does anyone experiences the same problem?

This is another problem that will be fixed in a BIOS update.  Actually you just have to press Fn key to make keyboard start working again.  I have already tested the new BIOS that fixes the following problems:

1.  keyboard backlight flickering after resume from sleep

2.  keyboard no function after resume from sleep (until pressing Fn key)

I don't know the release date yet, I will try to find out.  Sorry for this trouble.

Thank you for the news,

let us cross our fingers that the BIOS will come out soon and really fix these issues. Both are really annoying.

Hope Update will come soon too. But iam a little disappointed. How can such a bug pass QC? I mean, i can get this bug by only test sleep and wake in just less than a minute. Is there no testing of new Bios Versions or Firmwares?

I'm guessing the problem only affects a subset of all machines released and that's how it passed QA.

I did have an X1Y3 that didn't have the keyboard issue but was replaced for horrible coil whine and usb-c / thunderbolt charging and connection issues. The replacement has the keyboard issues.

Re: Yoga x1 3rd gen keyboard backlight flickering

My new machine is affected by all 3 issues mentioned in this thread:

 - fingerprint forgetfulness

 - coil whine

 - keyboard backlight flickering

I really hope Lenovo will address these issues asap. The newest top of the line business machine is broken right out of the box.

@jackzh2011 did the replacement have the coil whine issues?

Yes, but not as loud, and it didn't seem to impact SSD performance like it did in the first one.
