adaptive keys stopped working 

Are there shortcut keys to substitute for this ?

Do you mean the adaptive backlight not working?

 

Have you tried opening the Lenovo Settings app and setting the backlit to "Automatic" from the Keyboard settings?

 

The same can be achieved using the Fn+Space shortcut.

I mean the Adaptive-Keys
the plastic strip where the Fn-keys are located
& Sound , Brightness etc..

Have you checked the Fn key settings via BIOS and also Windows keyboard control panel?

 

If you did and all settings seem to be normal, I can recall someone re-installing the hotkeys drivers and having the functionality up and running again.

 

The driver for X1 yoga 1st gen is at http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/tr/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/THINKPAD-X-SERIES-LAPTOPS/THINKPAD-X1-YOGA-TYPE-20FQ-20FR/downloads/DS120449

 

You might find the appropriate installation file for your own ThinkPad model/configuration.

Thanks this helped

After I done som research it turn out my laptop shipped with Windows 8 and someone upgraded it without the drivers

I had to instsll the same driver pack twice beacuse first time the function key wasnt working and the second time everything worked like a charm
