fingerprint reader problem (windows hello disabled)

hello, my company has recently purchase a lenovo x1 yoga wich includes a fingerprint reader.

the notebook is joined to an active directory domain. i found myself with a problem when i want to configure windows Hello in order to register my fingerprint. The “Set up” button is greyed out, and I can’t click on it. and in the top of the windows appears a red text that says “Some settings are managed by your organization”.

Can you help me to solute this problem? I want to be able to sign in using my fingerprint.

The computer has windows 10 installed

Thank you very much in advance

Re: fingerprint reader problem (windows hello disabled)

It means the administrator of your domain has disabled fingerprint, so please contact them for help.

Re: fingerprint reader problem (windows hello disabled)

Thank you for your answer. I am the administrator of the domain, and i never had the intention of disabling it. I would like to know how to enable it. Do i have to do it in domain server or can i do somthing on the computer to solute it?

thank you again.

Re: fingerprint reader problem (windows hello disabled)

This is fixed by adding the following to the registry and reboot your PC:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System]
"AllowDomainPINLogon"=dword:00000001

Re: fingerprint reader problem (windows hello disabled)

Is the facial sign in available?

I have a 3rd gen with Win 10 Pro - 14393.1198      Updated from 8.1

I can use fingerprint but I can not sign in using my face.

It is a private computer.

Is there anything you can do to enable it? There is no option in settings to set it up.

Re: fingerprint reader problem (windows hello disabled)

You need a special IR camera for facial recognition with Windows Hello.  X1 Carbon 3rd gen doesn't have it.

Re: fingerprint reader problem (windows hello disabled)

Are there any alternatives that work?

I tried one but it couldn't tell the difference between myself and my sister.
