how do i enable bluetooth?

2010-06-08, 16:01 PM

I just bought a X201, got it put a agility 2 OCZ 120gb SDD in it. started putting in drivers for it and can not install the Bluetooth drivers. The question is how do i get the Bluetooth to turn on? or i guess the other question is this laptop that i bought and paid 20$ extra for Bluetooth that did not come with Bluetooth, who should i contact?

Oh yea i even put the original drive back in the laptop booted it up and there was no Bluetooth capabilities.

Two quick suggestions:

1) Make sure the master hardware wireless switch is turned on

2) Make sure the BT adapter is not disabled in BIOS.  If it is, the OS will not see it.

In BIOS, the path is (Security --> I/O Port Access --> Bluetooth)

3) If both of these are done, be sure to read the BT software installer ReadMe file for any prereq's

Regards

well I quess it is a bug in the driver, or something. The bluetooth model is there, one approach could be to update the bios and hope for he best, I will try that later

  • Enable or disable the built-in wireless networking features and the
Bluetooth features. If you press Fn+F5, a list of wireless features is
displayed. You can quickly change the power state of each feature in
    the list.
Note: If you want to use Fn+F5 to enable the wireless feature, the
following device drivers must be installed on the computer beforehand:
    #ThinkPad Power Management driver
    # OnScreen Display Utility
    #Wireless device drivers

This is what the manual tell about bt.

If you still don see it is likely that the bt daughter card is not present at all (because an error during the customizing process, or so)

Unfortunately is not esy to check if the card is physically present, as in other notebooks, because the card should be inside the monitor bezel and not near the MB as usual.

So now when i changed hard drives back to my SDD the Bluetooth is on. However i have no way of turning it off now. Fn+F5 does not do anything. I can not find the # OnScreen Display Utility that was suggested to install. Frustrating!
