new Thinkpad X390: backlit keyboard doesn't light up via Fn+Spacebar

Hello...

-  2 week old Thinkpad X390   (ordered P/N 20SC0009US )     w Intel i5-10210U 1.6Ghz CPU / 8G RAM /256G SSD,

Order receipt says 'backlit keyboard'.   Keyboard space bar has backlight symbol toward its left;  according to
some Lenovo Thinkpad web pages, this means my laptop was indeed supposed to be equipped with KB backlight.

-  Win10 Pro with various updates applied.  All BIOS, etc. updates applied as well.

-  Unclear if backlight worked before updates applied.  Does not work now - Fn+Spacebar shows one of 3 symbols on screen (off, medium, high light)
    Have rebooted etc.

-  Does not appear that KB backlight is a configurable option from BIOS at boot time.

Is there any patch or way i can further investigate this?   Otherwise very happy with laptop though the advertised
"17 hour" battery life is way over optimistic even with low activity (edit/web browse) and low screen backlight,
and windows set up for longer battery life.

Re:new Thinkpad X390: backlit keyboard doesn't light up via Fn+Spacebar

hi,bwiese

When you press Fn+Space, does it show following icon? If you press Fn+ F1 -F12 key,the keys work?  Can you adjust volume up or volume down by press Fn keys? Only Fn+space does not work? Or all Fn key not work?

Re:new Thinkpad X390: backlit keyboard doesn't light up via Fn+Spacebar

I have the same/similar problem on a new Legion 5 17IMH05H.

* All drivers up to date.

* All other fn keys work and show their overlay icons.

The backlight fn+space will turn OFF the backlight, but not turn it on.   No overlay icon appears in either case.

The Lenovo Vantage toolbar software can turn the backlight ON and OFF.
