I have a ThinkPad x200s running 64-bit Windows 7, and every so often I like to do a fresh install of Windows and all my apps and then restore my data from backups. Clears out a lot of crap and the system runs like brand new.
I want to do that again (it has been at least 8 months since my last fresh install) but this time I want to delete partition Q, the Lenovo Recovery partition to give me another 10 GB of drive space. In the past I have used the recovery partition to do my fresh installation, which is quite convenient, but now I want to do it with the recovery DVD I made (for resetting to factory fresh, not for recovering data).
What is the best way to do this? I don't recall that there is a step when doing a fresh installation that allows me to delete the recovery partition. Also, how do I know for sure that my recovery DVD will work? Any way to test for this?
