setting different external mouse and laptop trackpad settings

I have a gen5 x1 carbon (just got it) and wondering if it's possible to set different external mouse settings, versus trackpad settings. Specifically I want it to remember a left hand button configuration for external usb mouse, and right hand for the track pad buttons. THis was possible (without doing anything) on my previous toshiba, but doesn't seem so on this new unit. Not sure if this is a windows issue or with the thinkpad touchpad and/or its drivers.

Re: setting different external mouse and laptop trackpad settings

I'm facing this same problem.

Seemingly, there is no solution since it's a driver "problem". Somewhere in Microsoft's forums, I was told this feature depends on Synaptics driver. My old X1 (1st gen) was capable of have different  configurations to bluetooth mouse and trackpad, but not this X1 5th generation.

The "solution" is to install a little program called "EitherMouse". But it doesn't work very well with my bluetooth Microsoft mouse. Maybe you have more luck.

Greetings!
