thinkpad x1 carbon unexpected shutdown and freezing during manual shutdown

Ever since i got my x1 carbon i've been experiencing constant unexpected shutdown issues. Ill leave my laptop on for a few minutes unused and when i come back it'll be turned off and when started back up it will prompt me that the computer has recovered from a unexpected shutdown. There are also numerous of times where i would attempt to put my laptop to sleep or shut it down manually and the screen will go black, however the laptop doesnt shutdown or goes into sleep mode, but instead freezes with a black screen. I've sent in my x1 carbon in once due to a harddrive failure where the computer wont even start up windows at all, the technician informed me that they put a new ssd in and ever since i got it back these issues still occur. Can some one please help me here? these occurance are getting more frequent and i'm afraid i might have to send in my laptop again due to harddrive failure.

Re: thinkpad x1 carbon unexpected shutdown and freezing during manual shutdown

Hi, kuelderrek

Could you possibly go into Event Viewer and look at the Windows Logs, and then take a screenshot of these logs and post them here? I'd also recommend making sure all the drivers for your system are up to date, just to make sure they are not causing any issues. You can find all the drivers for your system here.

Best,

Adam

I am having a similar problem, though I haven't experienced the freezing.

Window Logs is enormous. What section do you want to see. Thanks.

Re: thinkpad x1 carbon unexpected shutdown and freezing during manual shutdown

Hi, whcjr46

Any section of the Windows Logs that is recording when the error happens would be really helpful, especially if there are errors and/or warnings that are visible.

Thanks in advance,

Adam
