Re: unable to right click on desktop

Hi, carra23

What is the exact error you are getting? Also, what operating system are you running?

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Re: unable to right click on desktop

Hi, carra23

I would recommend trying to use your machine in Safe Mode to see if that helps/stops the issue. Safe Mode will boot the machine while running only the necessary drivers and devices, so it is a good step for troubleshooting any issue. To boot into Safe Mode, turn on your machine and begin tapping F8 immediately. Continue to tap F8 repeatedly until you get to a menu where you see Safe ModeSafe Mode with Networking, and Safe Mode with Command Prompt as options. Select Safe Mode and the machine will begin to boot. Your graphics device will not be running as it normally does, so everything will look different. Try and right-click on the desktop here and see if the error returns.

Hope it helps,

Adam

Re: unable to right click on desktop

Hi, carra23

Since the issue is not occuring in Safe Mode, then I think the issue lies with the Intel driver. As seen in the screenshot below, when a machine is running Intel Graphics, one can right-click on the desktop to bring up the Graphics Properties and Graphics Options. With your machine, I believe the driver is not working correctly and when it tries to bring up these options, the system generates an error because it cannot do so properly. All that being said, I would try to uninstall the driver from Device Manager. To do this, open the Start menu and type Device Manger into the search box and press Enter. When in Device Manager, open the tree for Display adapters by double-clicking on it. Right-click on the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family device and select Uninstall from the list. Follow the prompts until your display changes and you are notified that you will have to restart your machine. After restarting, download the Intel driver from the Lenovo Support site again. After you install it, try right-clicking and see if that works.

Best of luck,
Adam

Re: unable to right click on desktop

Thanks mate! it works. Just one last question. Previously whenever i use Fn + F8 or Fn + F9 to adjust screen brightness, a table will always appear telling me the scale of my brightness, 1 to 10 etc. Now, the table does not shows up. any idea why?

Thanks

Re: unable to right click on desktop

Hi, carra23

Glad to hear that issue has been resolved! As for the new one, this could be an issue with the graphics driver being reinstalled and having a small conflict with the Hotkey Features Integration driver, which is the program that runs the visual aids when changing brightness, volume, etc. I would recommend trying to uninstall and then reinstall the Hotkey Features Integration driver, which you can find here. You can use the tool to both uninstall and reinstall the driver. Make sure to restart after both the uninstallation and the installation. After reinstalling the driver, check and see if the scale for brightness comes back.

Best of luck,

Adam
