where to buy WWAN for AT&T for X300

2008-04-04, 15:38 PM
I'm about to receive my X300, and ordered it without the build-option of having the WWAN from the factory. (this would add multiple weeks to the wait).

Is there someplace that sells the WWAN card by itself? I understand the WWAN card is a customer serviceable item.

Thanks,

The AT&T card is made by Sierra Wireless, model MC8775.

You can buy it as a Lenovo spare part (FRU#: 42T0931 or 42T0933) or on eBay, but even on eBay, make sure to get the Lenovo Branded MC8775 with the FRUs above. (X300 BIOS programmed to only let a handful of cards be installed)

It is user replaceable, see Lenovo blogs for a Video that shows you how to install the card.

I did the same thing. Ordered in-stock X300 and got the card on eBay.

There seems to be a slot under the battery that accepts a SIM.  Will my ATT SIM work in that slot or do I need to Sierra Wireless part?

Thanks

As mentioned in the prev. reply, you would need an original part approved by lenovo, if you wish to use another card, read this:
