why change bios

2010-04-01, 20:59 PM

I just bought this x100e. It has BIOS ver. 1.10a (6XET31WW).  Why should I have to upgrade it already? What advantages will Iget with the new version? I will have to buy an external cd rw thing to do this, so I would rather not.  (Speaking of that, can one use a flash drive in usb port to upgrade the BIOS?)

bios upgrade is used to fix certain problems with laptop firmwares or release some capability that was not available in the previous version. Personally i never upgrade bios unless i really need it, and i think you should do the same.

Just read the list of changes that new upgrade brings, if none of them affects you then don't upgrade.

There should be bios upgrade utility, which allows you to run the upgrade from the hdd within the window environment.

Whenever a new system comes out it is always a good idea to update the BIOS every once and a while in the first few months.  Many issues are found right after a product is first released to the public....
