x1 Carbon 2nd - Replace a 1600x900 non touchscreen with a 2560x1440 touchscreen display

Hello,

How i said in the title, i bought a X1 Carbon with a non touchscreen 1600x900 display and i find some panels with 2560x1440 and touchscreen, cheap enough to replace mine.

I want to know if it will works after i will change, and if i can do that alone, without a service.

Thanks!

Re: x1 Carbon 2nd - Replace a 1600x900 non touchscreen with a 2560x1440 touchscreen display

Hi Bogdanelos,

Warm Greetings & welcome to Lenovo Community, happy to have you here.

It will be complicated to do so, as LCD bezel, cover, cable are different for both touch & non-touch models. It is not simple as plug and play.

I hope the above information helped you.

Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

Regards,
Prabhansh

And if i will replace a 1600x900 non touchscreen with a 2560x1440 non touchscreen display, it will be simplier? Same pieces? LCD, cover, Cable?

Sadly, additional parts required to upgrade from HD+ to WQHD will be LCD panel, cable, bezel, hinges, rear cover. So this not easy upgrading LCD panel in X1 Carbon 2nd gen like other ThinkPads I believe.

HD+ has 30 pins connector whereas WQHD - 40 pin connectors, but it should work as the end which goes to Motherboard is same for both.

Below is the service video which might help you
