x1 carbon 4th gen bluetooth disconnection problem

Hello. My X1 carbon 4th gen will not stay connected to my bluetooth speaker for more than 5-10 seconds before it disconnects and refuses to reconnect unless I delete the device and connect again, and it disconnects again (endless cycle).

I know it isn't my speaker's problem because it connects fine with other devices.

What I have tried so far is delete the Conexant audio drive and use a GGA109WW Realtek audio driver that I downloaded from this forum post from 2014 (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/x1-carbon-bluetooth-problem/m-p/1376335/highl...) and it works until the audio drive automatically gets updated to Conexant (I know because I tried the changing the audio drive withou wifi and the bluetooth will work until wifi connection is established which will allow the update to happen)

At this point I know the problem is with the audio drive, not the bluetooth function of either the x1 carbon or the speaker, so I would like advice on how to fix this problem.

Thanks,

J
