x120e Ctrl and Fn keys

2011-01-11, 19:27 PM

I had been following ces closely for 11.6" E-350 netbooks, and after seeing the x120e decided that's the one I wanted.  Until today, when I noticed that for some bizarre reason the ctrl and fn keys are switched. Why does Lenovo make this incredibly bad design decision when eveything else they do is so well designed?

Assuming that I can simply switch them via a bios option, can I switch the physical keys as well?  I know that this might not be known yet since it is still unreleased, but does anyone have any information on this?  Thank you.

edit: I see that two years ago there was poll that showed 729 vs 478 in favor of Fn-Ctrl, however the poll after two years shows 2400 vs 1762 in favor of Ctrl-Fn, and that 1 year ago the bios option was implemented.

In the x100 the keys are easily logical swappable via bios setting, and they are also easily phisically swappable.

Swapping the keys was the first thing I did when I get my X100.

Is very likely that you can do the same on the x120

How can the keys be swapped physically?

Do I have to disassemble the keyboard?

You have just to pull gently the involved keys, swap the position, and push back the keys in the new position..

As happen on 99% of the PC keyboards.

Thanks for the info. I just recently got myself an x120e and was able to do both the virtual and physical swaps of the Ctrl and Fn keys. Works fine. Cheers!
