Re: x120e Flickering

@destring,

So all the 3 X120e has been returned to Lenovo yea? Appreciate if you could provide me with the case ID if you still have it so I can request customer relations or engineering to trace the laptop.

Also you mentioned you went through 4 of them, so you still have a X120e with you currently? Are you still having flickering screen issue on it?

I've had my laptop for about a week now.  I got the screen flicker on day 1 after installing AMD CCC.  I uninstalled it and the flicker went away.....until today :(    I was flicker free for about 5-days...I really hope this gets fixed, it's super distracting and annoying, especially on a machine that I love in every other aspect.

@psumme1,

Quick check on your laptop.

BIOS latest? Using 3rd party RAMs, removed? Drivers all updated?

Issue persists for me. Updated the BIOS a few weeks ago, which seemed to fix it for a while, but lately it's started again. All drivers are updated. I don't have the stock RAM stick anymore (it's several hundred miles away), but my current 4GB checks out with prime95 and memtest86.

Got my x120e today. Quickly discovered the flickering problem. Is there a set troubleshooting guide or steps to resolve this? I'd rather not return the laptop if I don't have to.

I don't have 3rd party RAM. I have 4gig RAM installed by Lenovo. The problem is now a constant line flicker top right of the screen, even when plugged in. Becomes worse when in battery mode, especially when the charge is less than 50%.

@damoseisun,

Try reseating the RAMs, ensure BIOS updated and GPU driver updated as well. Check my "Troubleshooting checklist".

@JameZ,

Honestly, this feels like a part's tolerances aren't tight enough at the factory such that outside of the usual 25 deg C/ 85 deg F testing it exhibits what people are seeing as flickering horizontal lines.  I've had it happen only a few times, though it usually went away when I power on/off the screen or just left it alone, but this happens regardless of whatever BIOS/driver version was in use at the time.  Best bet is to grab damoseisun's X120e and send it straight to engineering to figure out what part it is for everyone involved, since that one is as stock as one can get from what I can tell.

@wildone81,

Sure I am glad to request an arrangement for the laptop to be sent to a engineering lab to get the laptop checked.

@All

If anyone is willing to volunteer their laptop to be sent in, please drop me a PM and I will arrange this with engineering and the customer relations to get the laptop shipped in.
