Make sure you have all MS updates installed first, then try again.  Could also try using TVSU to install drivers just in case you might have downloaded the wrong one.

I just uninstalled my Conexant Audio and rebooted.  In Device Manager, under Sound, I had AMD High Definition Audio Device and High Definition Audio device.  I ran TVSU and it found the latest driver and installed it.

High Definition Audio device then became Conexant 20582 SmartAudio HD.

So if you are only seeing the AMD part, something is definitely missing.  Do you have any unknown devices?

Could try going into BIOS and do F9 then F10 (load BIOS defaults and save) and see if that helps.

FYI, the HD Audio device is HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5066&SUBSYS_17AA21DF

and the AMD HD Audio is HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_1002&DEV_AA01&SUBSYS_00AA0100

Did you install any drivers from Windows Update?

Hello,

Have you tried manually downloading and then installing the following audio driver for the ThinkPad X120e:

Conexant Audio Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad

If so, what were the results?

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky
