Hello,
I've got a x131e laptop with BIOS Version G8ETA1WW (2.70 ).
Booting first shows the general BIOS info page and then a new screen:
Error: The non-volatile variable storage is about full. Press F1 to enter Setup.
Howerver pressing F1 has no effect at all.
Before this issue the system was boot as desired.
Any Ideas?

I'm unable too boot.
After the error message nothing happens - the normal OS boot process doesn't start, no further message is displayed and pressing F1 doesn't start the BIOS Setup.
No beeps either. Removing RAM causes the expected beeps.

That is strange.
You might try removing the backup/CMOS battery, lettting it sit for 5-10 minutes and then plugging it back in to reset the BIOS.
See Replacing the backup battery on page 81 below for instructions

Removed battery, power cord and CMOS battery for 20 minutes. Message now includes the expected time message:
0271: Real Time Clock Error - Check Date and Time settings.
Error: The non-volatile variable storage is about full. Press F1 to enter Setup.
No other change though.

I am having the same problem. Pushing F1 boots the OS normally, but F2 gets me into setup where there is no options regarding clearing memory.
What should I do?
Thanks

Have you tried setting the BIOS to "Setup Defaults" (F9 I believe), then pressing F10 to Save and Exit?
