x1c7 won't boot OS start after upgrade to BIOS version 1.29/1.15

2020-03-13, 14:54 PM

Hi,

On my x1c7 laptop I installed BIOS 1.29/1.15 with a bootable CD (USB stick). Installation seem to went well but afterwords my Ubuntu OS wouldn't boot.

I re-inserting the bootable CD and install again, but I couldn't go past the "choose device to boot from" menu. It seems that no matter what bootable CD I put in - I also tried linux - the BIOS won't boot it. So now I'm pretty much stuck with a laptop that doesn't boot. I read about resetting the BIOS to defaults by disconnecting the main battery and the coin-cell (cmos) battery, but I'd rather avoid that since I still have warranty.

Any ideas on how to circumvent the problem?
