x201's fan noise is too loud

I just got my x201 for several days. The fan's noise seems unbearable. Especially in the late night, It was running all the time, even if I didn't run anything. I ran the power setting and set the fan to reduce noise. But it doesn't seem to work..

Any other one has the same problem?

Re: x201's fan noise is too loud

hi, i own also a x201 and it's not the fan, which makes the noise, it's the 7200 rpm harddisk!! I replaced it with a ssd, and now the x201 is very quiet :-) cheers, zep

My X201 doesn't make any noise at all.  I am very happy with it.

That's interesting - mine has the 500GB 7200RPM HDD and hardly makes any noise at all - much less than my last two laptops.  Of course it's all relative - what I consider quiet may be considered noisy by another.

Re: x201's fan noise is too loud

I found the reason now. I updated my BIOS to 1.15, then the fan's noise increased dramatically. After I reflashed back to 1.14. It became much better.

It is strange. Seems Lenovo increase the default fan's speed in 1.15

Thank you, Guys.

I know what a HDD sound like. But it is definitely not. Congtra to you. A SSD.
