Re: x220 Brightness Keys Fail after Hibernate

The Hotkey Integrations package is common to all ThinkPads, so I'd think the fix would probably apply elsewhere.

@wyld,

The drivers for the X120e which will be releasing is the AMD GPU driver for the X120e only.

I've requested the team to check on the X220 if they have a similar issue however they did not revert on it. (will ping them again)

I am requesting those X220 owners in the X220 throttle thread to check their systems if they have a similar problem

It happens to me on my X220. Not consistently, maybe about one-third of the time after returning from hibernation.

Just for the avoidance of doubt - how do you put the x220 into hibernate mode? Is it the same as "sleep" (Fn-F4)?

JameZ, I've put my x220 (i7) into hibernate (from the win 7 start button) three times now, and each time I resume my brightness keys have worked just fine.

@JameZ: I initially had a few problems with this (I don't toggle my brightness all the time so I can't confirm how much it happens, but I have definitley experienced it.)

I applied the fix that atomicminded suggested, uninstalling those 3 items and then installing/rebooting after each step. It seems to have fixed the issue, though I haven't done any rigourous testing to confirm.

@Those affected.

Could you try booting into Windows Safe Mode ... Then from there uninstall the GPU driver (remember to download the X220 GPU driver first of couse) then reboot, boot back into normal Windows then install the GPU driver and see if it helps.

In the Power Manager, my power button is set to trigger hibernate. The difference between sleep vs. hibernate is obvious on my X220 because it has 8 GB of memory and hibernate is significantly slower than sleep, even with an SSD.
