Re: x220 Brightness Keys Fail after Hibernate

2011-06-13, 17:38 PM

I have an x220 tablet i7 4GB RAM (stock), and am encountering the same problem.

It occurs even when I'm running on battery then hibernate and then resume to battery power (no power source change).

I've:

- uninstalled Power Manager, Power Manager Driver, Hot Key Package (all 4 apps)

- reboot

- install Power Manager Driver (v1.62 2011Mar29 - 83ku14ww), reboot

- install Power Manager (v3.59 2011May20 - 8ru406ww), reboot

- install Hot Keys Integration (v3.40.0000 2011May04 - 8mvu03ww)

... Lenovo Auto Scroll Utility v1.00

... Lenovo System Interface Driver v1.05

 ... On Screen Display v6.30.00

 ... ThinkPad FullScreen Magnifier v2.24

- reboot

- did a SINGLE test, seems ok

I'll report back to see if this is still happening.

Today this issue happened again on my X220 with Lenovo preload RAMs :( By the way, I discovered, that after a number of suspend/resume cycles and some hours waiting brightness buttons suddenly begin to work again (without reboot).

After my "typical" day of sleep/resume, hibernate/resume ... the issue with the brightness not responding, went away. It seems to be working now. I'll let you know if it fails again.

Re: x220 Brightness Keys Fail after Hibernate

Well, it seems I spoke too soon. The brightness stopped working after a resume from sleep.

Was using battery all day, battery ran low.

Put tablet to sleep.

Plugged in. Fully charged battery.

Unplugged.

Resumed from sleep.

Brightness function keys no longer work.

I don't know if this is related, but after uninstalling/reinstalling the power management stuff, i noticed today that my mouse/trackpoint no longer worked and the fingerprint reader no longer logged me in to windows. So I uninstalled/reinstalled:

- UltraNav Driver (v15.3.6.0 2011May25 - 6hgx40ww)

- UltraNav Utility (UltraNav Utility v2.13 2010Sept17 - 7vgq14ww).

- ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software v5.9.4.6882 2011Apr06 - fpr_594_6882_64ww

Problem not resolved by uninstall/reinstall the Power Management stuff.

Re: x220 Brightness Keys Fail after Hibernate

Here is an interesting observation: I do not experience the issue when I put my computer to sleep by closing the screen. However, when I tried putting it to sleep by pressing Fn-F4, the brightness keys failed when I next woke up the computer. Closing and opening the screen (sleep and wake up) made the keys work again.

Also, when I sleep the computer by closing the screen, it wakes up automatically when I open the screen. However, if I use Fn-F4, I need to push the power button or swipe my finger to get the computer to wake up. I'm 90% sure this is a bios issue. Pretty minor, but also annoying. Please fix by version 1.18

@All,

Based on Optics post, I notice the hotkey integration is an older version that what we have on the server.

Appreciate if you could uninstall the current version of hotkey and try the following.

Please post back the results.
