Re: x220 Brightness Keys Fail after Hibernate

2011-06-20, 23:37 PM

I initially downloaded the "latest" from this link that I bookmarked:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-77280.html

It still has the old version:

Going here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? I found what looks to be a newer version (released after your post):

3.52.0000, 20 Jun 2011, 8mvu32ww.exe

Which would you like me to try? This one 3.52.0000:

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8mvu32ww.exe

or the one you linked to Version 3.50.0001:

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8mvu30ww.exe

@Optics,

Please try the 3.52 version. I guess the web team sneaked an update after my post yesterday, thanks for the update though :)

I went ahead and installed 3.52 of the Hot Keys Integration.

- uninstalled Power Manager, Power Management Driver, Hot Key Package

- reboot

- installed Power Management Driver, Power Manager and Hot Key Package ... rebooting in between.

- Hot Keys Integration (v3.52.0000 2011Jun20 - 8mvu32ww)

 ... Lenovo Auto Scroll Utility v1.00

 ... Lenovo System Interface Driver v1.05

 ... On Screen Display v6.42.00

 ... ThinkPad FullScreen Magnifier v2.30

I'll report back.

After installing 8mvu32ww.exe (Hotkey Features Integration v3.52) brightness keys still sometimes fail after resume from sleep.

Just now, when brightness keys stop working, I close the lid (close lid action is set to nothing), disconnect power adapter, and then open lid. After that, brightness buttons start to work again (without reboot or sleep/hibernate).

@BofA,

When you resume from sleep / hibernate, try waiting for the OSD to pop up first before changing the brightness / volume.

I try to wait for 1 minute - no brightness popup when brightness keys stop working, sometimes I see sound volume popup only, sometimes no popup at all. And sometimes there is no brightness popup when resume from sleep, but brightness keys working fine.

@BofA,

Did you uninstall the previous version of OSD before installing the 3.52? If you didn't could you try uninstalling the 3.52, reboot then install the 3.52, reboot then test?

Engineering was unable to replicate this issue thus am suggesting the test above.

I didn't uninstall previous version of OSD. Now I uninstall it, reboot and reinstall again as you said. I will report back.

After uninstall/install of the new versions, and a day or so of using the computer, I'm not experiencing this issue anymore. I'll report back if I encounter this problem again. Thanks.
