Re: x220 Brightness Keys Fail after Hibernate

Issue is still here with v3.52
And again after plug off power cord, close lid, open lid, plug the cord, brightness buttons begin to work again.

@BofA,

Sounds like a Power Manager issue for yours since unplugging the AC helps.

Could you try the following.

Uninstall Power Manager, power Management driver, GPU driver and Hotkey. Reboot then install all 4 again and see if it helps.

Unplugging the AC itself has no effect, it helps ONLY when close and open lid when unplugged.
Uninstall all, reboot and reinstall now. But I don't beleive it could help because I install latest version of Power Manager, power Management driver, GPU driver and Hotkey on the clean OS (without lenovo preinstalled drivers/software).

@BofA,

Are you using a retail copy of Windows or is it your company imaged?

Since that's the case could you run TVSU to ensure all drivers have been properly installed? Windows update done?

I'm using a retail copy of Windows, all updates from Windows Update installed. All critical updates from TVSU also installed. But I don't install:
ThinkVantage Communications Utility
ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software (use driver from WU instead)
Intel AMT 7.1 - IPT (use driver from Intel instead)
Intel AMT 7.1 - MEI and SOL (use driver from Intel instead)
WiFi Driver for Intel cards (use driver from Intel instead)
Lenovo Autolock
ThinkVantage Access Connections

I removed igfxpers.exe from autostart and problem looks to be resolved. Now brightness OSD don't work, but brightness buttons work correctly after sleep.

@BofA,

Engineering mentioned to ensure your .Net is to be version 3.5 or higher, Power management driver, power manager installed and hotkey.

Also suggested to run TVSU do ensure you have all the drivers installed.

.NET is 3.5 with latest updates from WU. Power management driver v1.62, power manager v3.59 and Hotkey Features Integration (8mvu32ww) are also installed. About other drivers from TVSU - I think that brightness buttons should work without Fingerprint software or WiFi Driver for Intel cards (I like stock drivers for that devices much more).

P.S.: I noticed that without igfxpers.exe running it's no longer possible to bring brightness buttons working by close lid/unplug AC/plug AC/open lid, so I add  igfxpers.exe in autorun again.

@BofA,

Engineering team are unable to replicate the issue, they have advice you to do a factory restore as there might be some applications which are causing the conflict of drivers.

Re: x220 Brightness Keys Fail after Hibernate

@JameZ,

I installed clean OS, then Intel display driver. No other drivers or software are installed. Issue with brightness buttons iss still here :(

Why not to do this buttons more "hardware"? For example, when I boot from WinXP live CD, brightness buttons don't work at all and brightness is always MAX. When I install clean Win7 without drivers, brightness buttons don't work, and begin to work only after drivers installed. On ALL other brands of notebooks there is no such problem!
