As long as your 3G carrier supports BYOM (Bring Your Own Modem) for their service, AND it operates on a 3G band supported by the MC8355..... yes, you can.

Cheers,

The SIM slot is under the battery. There's a diagram in the User's Manual (download from Lenovo site).

FYI here's a pic, and the correct SIM orientation:

Hope this helps!

thanks to every one

just a double check i went over the customize process and after cheking the sierra option a tab named: "selectable sim" showed up and inside was "SIM Card: USA" option.

so sim free for sure ?

I think "SIM Card: USA" means the MC8355 comes included with a SIM for a USA carrier. Mine came with an AT&T SIM (unactivated). I swapped it with my own AT&T SIM that has a data plan.
