I have an X230 ThinkPad which randomly crashes often throughout the day. I'm on Windows 7 Enterprise v 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1).
I've had it for just over two years. It worked fine until a couple months ago (though for some reason the camera stopped working for a year and then came back to life a couple months before the crashing problem started).
When it crashes, there's no blue screen or any other warning, it just turns off immediately. Turning it back on brings me to the Safe Mode start up screen. I always choose the normal start up and it starts right back up after which it may crash shortly after I see my Windows Desktop or it could be a few minutes later or it could work for days before it happens again.
The problem doesn't seem to be prompted by the use of any software (e.g. Office), going to any particular websites, whether it's pluged in or not, the amount of time I've used it - doesn't seem to be caused by any user input.
The unit hasn't been dropped or otherwise abused. It seems totally random.
Any ideas anyone?
