Dear all,

I need information to make sure about SSD that compatible with x240.

In my country there are too few brand and type of SSD, I found PLEXTOR M5 Pro Xtreme 512GB with SATA III & 7mm thickness.

Is the SSD compatible to x240 (SATA interface & operational)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best regards,

Re: x240 SSD compatibility

Hi Hemanth,

Do you know if it it supporting "Kingston 240 GB 2,5 SATA3 V300 7mm" ?

I want to buy an ssd but I read that it is only supporting m.2 (which I have no idea what it is )

You know ssd's are expensive drives and I don't want to waste my money for nothing Smiley Happy

Best Regards,

Ali

Re: x240 SSD compatibility

I have seen Lenovo literature on the X240 that says a 512 GB SSD is available:

http://www.lenovo.com/shop/emea/content/pdf/ThinkPad/XSeries/en/thinkpad-x240-datasheet.pdf

I have also seen X240s for sale with 512 SSDs. My question is what make 512 SSD is compatible with the X240?

Re: x240 SSD compatibility

Hi Hemanth,

Thanks for your reply.  I knew they offered it with a 512 GB SSD; however, it is no longer listed as an option on the Lenovo ordering site.  Do you know if it can be special-ordered with a 512?  If not, I know the p/n for the Lenovo 512 SSD that came with the unit you are referencing is 4XB0F86403 see:  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?DocID=PD031661.  However, is this the only 512 SSD on the planet that is compatable with the X240 or will a Samsung 840 Pro work, or perhaps another aftermarket drive?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: x240 SSD compatibility

it is compatible with all aftermarket SSD with 2.5 inch 7 mm SATA interfaces. It doesn't have to be Lenovo sourced.

However, opening up the laptop and replacing the hdd/ssd, may or may not contravene the warranty on the system.
