In short, fn key does not work in lenovo x240 with latest bios update (2.35). I can swap fn and ctrl keys, and then function keys works via the ctrl key, but the fn key does not work as ctrl.
I think this problem is OS independent (tried w10, w7, ubuntu). I have tried installing older bios for this model from the following page:
But I can only install a few of the newest ones, as the older ones report that they are not compatibles with my system (though the readme says w7-w10 compatibility). No luck with any of the ones I could install.
I also tried the hotkey features integration from here, no luck either:
This question has been answered a gazillion times, but ill do it one more time as there is no solution posted anywhere. Examples:
Cheers and sorry for cloning this question one more time (I'm sure you can smell my desperation).

Well, this not a solution but might can help.
I swapped Fn and Ctrl key and the function keys works via the ctrl key.
Then i've downloaded and installed SharpKeys, configured Left Shift to Right Ctrl.
Now Left Shift is working as Ctrl key.
Sure you can modify yourself from this app which keystroke is suit for you.

My laptop has a problem
The Fn button does not work. I thought the problem with the keyboard. I replaced the keyboard and the problem remained.
The BIOS version was 2.43. I tried to roll back to 2.40 the problem did not dare.
I try to roll back to version 2.33 does not work. Says that the firmware is not suitable for my system.
What should I do? How to solve this problem?
