After BIOS upgrade to v2.30 (from v2.24) on my x240 it's fan started to run non-stop on ~3k rpm while the machine is idle. Downgrading to v2.29 BIOS version solved the problem.

I could also confirm that FAN rpms regulation is different than before. I performed also downgrade to bios v 2.29 and everything is as before. I hope lenovo will fix this in next bios release.

I have applied this BIOS and I could say that FAN behavior is same as in 2.31, I was also afraid of this that I will be not able rollback but it is quite fine for me. But please take in mind that your case could be different as you could have different FAN.. revision of board...etc.

Well, for me since begining the issue was not so noticable. I noticed slight increase of RPMs but not so dramatic so for me it behaves exactly the same as when I upgraded to 2.30 when we were able see increase of RPMs. I'm now on 2.33 and RPMs are same as on 2.30.
