x240 two-finger scrolling issue?

I'm getting some inconsistencies with two finger scrolling, where the touch pad doesn't always recognize my two spread fingers, so it doesn't consistently scroll in applications. Anyone else? (This is in Windows 8.1 for what it's worth.)

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried reinstalling the touchpad drivers?

A similar issue has been discussed in this thread. Please have a look at it and see if it helps!

Best regards,

Mithun.

Re: x240 two-finger scrolling issue?

I updated to driver v18.0.7.25 released on Feb 28 and this has helped the issue.

Re: x240 two-finger scrolling issue?

Hey there,

I have issues concerning the two-finger scrolling with my UltraNav Touch Pad. Sometimes (not every time) when I use this to scroll, it stays in scroll mode after I lift off my fingers. This means, when I then put one finger on the Touch Pad to click on something, it still thinks I'm trying to scroll, which it then does. When I lift off again, it stops scrolling and returns to the usual pointer mode. This is really annoying, because I never know if I have to shortly touch the Touch Pad again or not in order to be able to use the Touch Pad after two finger scrolling. I have all the latest drivers installed, including the ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device version 18.0.7.34. I tried configuring it down to the minimum options I need for my Touch Pad, with no significant improvements.

I'd really appreciate some help, this is really annoying me!

Thanks in advance,

best regards,

Rasmus

Re: x240 two-finger scrolling issue?

Hi,

I have exactly the same two-finger scrolling issue at Thinkpad T440s with Windows 8.1 and latest drivers (UltraNav driver ver. 18.0.7.34).

I'm now using one-finger scrolling at right TouchPad vertical region which works fine but it's not as practical as two-finger scrolling.

Re: x240 two-finger scrolling issue?

I have exactly the same two finger scrolling issue on the X240. It is very frustrating.

The touchpad remains stuck in the two finger scroll aspect either for several seconds or indefinitely, displaying the horizontal or vertical scrollbar symbol on the cursor, even though I have released all fingers from the touchpad and am no longer scrolling.

To get it unstuck from the scrolling apsect so that I can move the cursor freely, I have to scroll again or tap on the trackpad, then release all fingers from the trackpad before touching the trackpad again.

We ordered a batch of X240 model ThinkPads at my company and I have built one for testing. I did a clean install of Windows 7 Enterprise (x64) and used all the latest drivers from the Lenovo website.

Re: x240 two-finger scrolling issue?

Okay I think I have found the cause.

The default 'Touch Activation Threshold' setting appears to be causing the two finger scroll to be come stuck in the scroll aspect.

This setting determines how much finger pressure must be applied before the TouchPad responds, and is located in
 the Synaptics Control Panel:

Control Panel > Mouse Properties > ThinkPad (tab) > Advanced (button) > Advanced (tab) > Motion (sub-tab) > Touch Activation Threshold (setting).

Lowering the setting a few notches below default has solved the issue for me (see image below).

Touch Activation Threshold Setting

In addition to this, I also reduced the Intertia setting for coast scrolling by two notches from default (centre), which is located at:

Control Panel > Mouse Properties > ThinkPad (tab) > Advanced (button) > Scroll (tab) > Inertia (setting).
