x280 - 2nd HDD in WWAN slot

2020-05-06, 6:07 AM

I'm upgrading from my x270 to an 280 (Type 20KF0022US).

In all of my previous Thinkpads, I was able to put a second hard drive in the WWAN slot.  In the x270, it took an NVMe card.

I tried putting the NVMe card in the WWAN slot of the X280.  Fits fine.  But not detected.  Doesn't seem to be anything to toggle in the BIOS.  Nothing showing up unknown in the Device Manager.

A friend suggested that since the primary HDD is an M.2, perhaps the WWAN needs an M.2.  Finding so much conflicting info online, so curious if anyone has been successful adding a 2nd HDD.

Thanks!
