Unfortunately, no, it will not. The drive size is different and it can't be made to fit the X3 media slice.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

George

to your knowledge, is there any blu-ray solution for the ultrabay 2000?  after market, perhaps? or am I stuck looking for a cumbersome external usb drive (or firewire for that matter)? ...thanks!

There are no BR drives in UltraBay 2000 format, and I have never heard of anyone modifying one to fit with success...

You will have to use some type of an external drive, which I honestly have no particular recommendation for, but am sure that all of them  would work quite well.

Be advised that your X31's GPU which is only 16Mb may prove to be a bottleneck in enjoying blue-ray...

Good luck.

Cheers,

George

You can purchase a Ultrabay Enhanced to Ultrabay 2000 adapter so that you can fit the Bluray drive into your X3 dock, but your CPU and GPU may not be up to the task of decoding the HD 1080p graphics of the Blu ray movie. You probably have to get a brand new laptop to fully enjoy these latest blu ray movies.

It is a combination of lack of Graphic ram and the GPU used in the X31, regarding your lightscribe drive, i am assuming you are talking about the Ultrabay Enhanced version sourced from Lenovo.com right??? The x31 should have little problem dealing with dvd-rw drives. but you would need to get the adapter first, if it is an Ultrabay Enhanced model.
