...suddenly the sound is switched off. I have reinstalled the drivers from the support website...still sound is off. I have made sure sound is full on position on applications and on task bar.
Any idea? Have anyone had this issue before...

have you got recently hibernated or put your Thinkpad to sleep?
Which OS are you using? Have you recently updated anything.
The easiest method is the to do a Vista or XP system restore.

TIP: If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the system.

I have the same issue.
X61 suddenly sound off.
And I reintalled Winxp,Sp3,and other thinkpad softwares yesterday.
Sound is off yet.
When I click the volume up buttom on keyboard, the green sign comes out in display.
This morning,I turn on the computer, the sound is back!
I double click the volume in right down conner, turn up or down the volume, the sound is back.
But several minutes later, when I'm trying to play a movie, the sound is gone again.
Tried to turn up volume in Media player, it doesn't work.
There's a quetion sign?
