Approved/effective cleaning products?

2008-08-17, 5:50 AM

What are the approved (and effective) cleaners for

1. The x61t screen?

2. The matte black outer finish?

The screen picked up finger grease and the residue of my palm touching the screen. Its surface is great and the pen feel changes when there is anything on the surface. I have only had the unit a week of so... I'd like to keep it clean.

First laptop in my house was a luggable Osborne! Now that was a cool computer. (...for its time!)

I use a spray bottle with a 1:1 mix of water and rubbing alcohol for the screen.  I find it works quite well.

I agree with Thom.. but don't use a spray bottle because of run/drip.  Bought a bottle of rubbing alcohol and used half for my insect repellant formula then filled back up with distilled water.  Marked it LCD's.

Dab it on a clean lint free type of towel.  No need to really soak it, a couple of small dabs works great.

QUESTION:  As I never have had a 'touch' screen device, 1) is this formula still ok to use 50/50 alcohol/water and 2) what about an overlay protector like you can use on a PDA?  Do they make them this big and are they ok to use on the touch screen?

Thanks,

Ed
