Did Lenovo stop offering XP on X61t?

2008-06-13, 14:43 PM
Hello, I was wondering if lenovo has stopped offering Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005. On the main notebook page it states that "Other editions of Windows Vista and XP are available" with the X61t, however on the customize page only Windows Vista Business 64, Windows Vista Business, and Windows Vista Ultimate are available. Is this a mistake?  I was really hoping to order a X61 Tablet from Lenovo with Windows XP within a couple of days.

Any information would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I think Lenovo has come into agreement with Microsoft the Goliath that June 30 would be the last day, which Lenovo are allowed to include XP downgrade disc with Lenovo laptops. I think most of the Thinkpads with Vista Business above are also shipped with XP Pro. But i can't 100 % confirm that, so hopefully either Mark_Lenovo or the Moderators can shed some light on these matters. Even Lenovo 300 N100 that is sold at Australian department stores come with Vista Business and XP Pro, so you got to be quick to catch the deal of the year, i wished i was that lucky with my T61p and R61i. Lenovo has paid a handsome amount of licensing fee to Microsoft so that they could include both set of OS in your Thinkpad laptop.

Looking at the system components screen, it appears you can still select to have xp tablet recovery media included.

Just use Vista Business though... it is way more stable than xp tablet.  (Especially if you use hybernate and sleep alot, which I do.)  The ink features are MUCH better too.  Vista (Business) is built to ink... xp tablet is built to stink.

Vista was built with Tablet in mind, with lot of nifty features.

Not to hijack this thread or anything... but how are you liking 64-bit?  Have you had any specific compatability problems?  If so, are you able to run programs in some sort of emulated 32-bit mode?

Just curious.  I'm thinking of taking the plunge.
