Digitizer Pen Not Working in Windows 8

2013-01-26, 14:22 PM

I have a x230 Tablet.  When I upgraded to Windows 8 the digitizer pen stopped working.  I've seen a similar issue posted for someone that had the problem with an x220.  The solution was to use the Wacom driver for a PC tablet for windows 7.  I tried that but I get a message on installation that a supported tablet was not found.  Interestingly, upon installation of Windows 8, my WWAN card (internal) also "disappeared".  Tech support has been unable to help.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks

Since no one has responded yet, I'll give it a stab in the dark....   Re-download the driver from here:

http://cdn.wacom.com/U/drivers/TabletPC/ISD_DualTouch_710-8.zip

That's from the Wacom site "Americas region" then support/drivers then tablet pc then Windows 8....

Try that, hopefully you don't get the same install error.  It's same as the Win 7 driver they released in Oct 2012 but perhaps a fresh download, and some certainty that you have specifically the right file might help...  Also, inside that zip package should be another .zip file with a slightly newer version number that you can extract and install instead...

thanks very much.  I really appreciate the help.  unfortunately even using the internal zip produced the same problem - supported tablet not found.  I'm wondering if I should just strip the machine and do a clean install of Windows 7.  Thanks.

Not so much same problem, but I experienced the same "no stylus, no wifi" when I installed Win8 on an HP Slate500.

The stylus by ntrig I think is the same as used by Lenovo. They had a beta driver which i downloaded and installed but it did no good. Have seen other Slate500 owners with same scenario. I reinstalled Win7 Pro and the stylus came back, and I was able to reload a wifi driver.

I use a Lenovo X60 (not a tablet) and am toying with the idea of getting one of the x series tablets to replace the X60, but now I'm not so sure.
