Can you please tell us how good is this update in fixing the problem ?
What should we expect ? will if fix the whole issue ?

Thanks for the update.

I can confirm what tommy posted earlier works. I did a fresh install, but I manually installed drivers.. but I didn't install any pen drivers. My pen works perfectly on the edge now. So it seems the driver is causing the issue?

So, are you saying that your X220t used to behave similar to the one in this video and all you did was do a clean format and let Windows install the pen drivers from Windows update?

I don't think this is a driver issue.

The same edge sensitivity problem exists in linux as well as windows.
Therefore a firmware patch would be the only way of resolving the issue.

Yeah, I didn't use the pen drivers on the lenovo site. My x220 was so bad before.. was about a several mm off in some places. I didn't use anything to calibrate just a fresh install. I can write on the edge without it jittering and click on the small boxes in one note with no problems.

Looking at it closer it is still off but only in the right corners, the left corners are fine (mine was off anywhere near a edge/side, even a bit in the center).

So pretty weird, but the tablet is much easier to use for me now.

I have a X220 Tablet and would be willing to provide before and after update measurements, if someone would explain the best setup for me.

One thing I have previously tried is to draw diagonal lines along a ruler in Windows Journal. However, even in the fullscreen mode Windows Journal doesn't capture all the tablet area (i.e. there is still a scrollbar, etc).

Hi Daniel,

I personally would be interested to see a video similar to the one I did, with the stylus being moved around the screen with more emphasis on the edges (although centre is also important) in order to see how well the digitizer tracks the actual location of the stylus. It would be nice to see 4 tests: before the update without calibration and with calibration, and after the update without calibration and with calibration.

I've uploaded a small program I wrote that presents you with a completely full screen window (no title bars, scroll bars or task bar) allowing you to use the stylus to draw. You can download the program from my site at http://helmpcb.com/?attachment_id=268. In order to exit the program, simply right-click and select Exit. Would you mind giving this a try?

Amr

EDIT: I've updated the program to add Erase and Draw options to the right click menu.

Line accuracy is an inherent problem with all IPS screens.  It is more apparent on the edges.  There is no solution.

Use a ruler and draw straight diagnal lines across your screen with a paint program.  You will notice the lines are not straight.  In fact, they curve near the edges.

Now try this with a non-IPS screen.  The lines will be much straighter, but not perfect.

There is no solution.  Don't hold your breath for new drivers/firmware.

lol no solutions?

This is not about whether there is such a solution or not.

The matter is that other brands of tablets can do the job better than x220t, why can't x220t?

I suggest you watch the video that compares those tablets, instead of just coming here to tell us don't wait.

It sounds like nobody knows the truth except you, an expert?

This is the 21th century, technology won't stop improving just because there are some morons not having any beliefs.

You are telling us to stay still and stop improving, maybe you should go back to your mom and get some comfort.

Can you educate us why it is a inherent problem with IPS screens only? I thought the edges are not working well because some kind of design flaw such as bad bezel surrounding the panel. Every other place except the edges looked straight enough for me.
