Hi there. I have an x220, which module do I need to purchase? I spent close to an hour with Lenovo and couldn't figure it out. Do you know if the Gobi 4000 will work?

I really doubt it'll work with T Mobile's LTE bands since they differ from what AT&T and Verizon use, and the Gobi 4000 predates the network being built out.

The specs mention 2100 and 1700 for LTE, so I would hope that it would work on T Mobile.

You will be able to get EDGE/UMTS/HSPA service through the card since it's unlocked.  Depending on whether or not the card will use the 1700 band in UMTS mode, you might only be able to 2G EDGE in older markets.  Some T Mobile markets that haven't been upgraded yet have their 3G service on the 1700 band which most devices can't use.  Areas that have LTE should have 3G service on the 1900 band that most devices can see...

Thank you ery much for your quick response.  The provider isn't much of a concern.  I am not sure whether the Gobi 4000 will work with my laptop or not.

I have Lenovo X220, will the GOBI 4000 work? Or do I have get the GOBI 3000?

Many thanks again.

The Lenovo support page says no so you'd have to contact tech support to confirm it won't work.  Oddly enough my x230 tablet isn't supported either, I'll have to use a Gobi 3000 as well.

I may have to get the 3000.  Are you on AT&T? Does it support 3G? What speeds are you getting if you don't mind me asking?

I don't have mine yet, so I can't speak to the speeds, however according to the specs:

- It will do 3G, including AT&T's faux-G "4G" network (HSPA+ up to 14.4mbit downlink)

- It will do 3G on T Mobile, BUT NOT UNLESS you are in a market that has been refarmed with 3G on the 1900 band, because this card lacks the 1700 band (it does have 2100 but you need both for T Mobile) otherwise you'll see EDGE

- It does 3G CDMA EVDO RevA on both Verizon and Sprint
