Re: Helix - Battery Plugged in, not charging

2013-07-04, 15:20 PM

In such a state of mind you are a good candidate for the procedure I'm talking about. Why return your Helix whitout testing another solution?

The most important thing you have to do is to backup your system in order to be able to restore it if something goes wrong (or if you want to return your machine in its actual exact state). You can use Acronis True Image Home, for example, to create an image of your system onto an external HDD.

Follow this article I made one and a half years ago (it's only a matter of drivers, but keep in mind that I'm talking about the X220t and Windows 7) :

Well, it seems that I have to conclude that it is not possible to run the Lenovo Power Manager on my Helix.  This means that I will not be able to fine-tune the battery recharging in a way that avoids damage to the batteries...

I myself never used the Lenovo Power Manager, and after 2 years of use my battery is still in a pretty good condition. Yesterday I disconnected my laptop from the wall socket and let the battery discharge until 6%, then I reconnected the charger. After a while the battery level reached 100%.

Re: Helix - Battery Plugged in, not charging

As I said in my previous posting, I have had the Helix for two weeks and have worked on it like crazy.  I have used the "Refresh" function.  I have return to the earliest Restore Point, and I have installed each and every piece of Helix driver and related software claimed to fix problms and I have done so half a dozen times over.  Nothing helps, my Helix does not behave as advertised!  Of course I have made a backup and I am now about to creale a USB stick with the recovery system on it and rebuild everything from the absolute beginning...

Thanks for the pointer.

Whether one has to use a piece of software or not is beside the point.  I have paid dearly for the Helix hardware and software and therefore  I demand that they work as advertised.  Particularly since others seem to be able to run the Lenovo software that refuses to run on my Helix...

Betreff: Helix - Battery Plugged in, not charging

2013-07-06, 7:19 AM

Now I installed the new driver version:

Lenovo Power Management Driver

1.66.0.22

Battery 1 is charging up to 50%

Battery 2 is charging up to 100%

Charging mode is set to "full charge".

What can I do?

@bothide

I found a Microsoft page which might interest you (about the missing functionnalities in Power Manager).

Lenovo energy management software not working in windows 8 pro

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-desktop/lenovo-energy-management-software-not-working-in/925e8196-7fc9-445e-9604-842040c6241f

It seems that you have to install the Windows 7 version in compatibility mode.

Can someone please tell me, why this thread is marked as "solved"? My batteries still are not charging. I have all the newest drivers, tried to uninstall the batteries from the device manager, but nothing helps. I want to go travelling with the helix in some days and want its batteries to be fully charged.

It's marked as solved because the OP solved their problem, posted about the solution which worked for them and marked it as the solution.  A thread being marked as solved doesn't necessarily mean it is the solution for all possible similar scenarios.

As you have your own thread on a similar subject you were pointed to a solved thread as there was a possibility that the OPs solution may, (stress on may), have been of assistance to you.

edit; typo
